Aussie cricket coach reveals the only Ashes star who could party TOO hard after the
Australia coach Andrew McDonald has joked that there is ‘always concern for Travis Head’ after being asked which star could party too hard in the wake of his team’s Ashes victory.
The South Australian cult hero, who is loved by fans around for being perhaps one of the team’s best larrakins in this era of professionalism, admitted that he had been planning a 48-hour party for the side in his home town.
It comes as his partner Jess, revealed that the star Aussie opener arrived back home after 3:00am on Monday morning, after he guided Australia to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series, with Australia claiming the urn.
Head, the team’s unofficial social secretary, led his team-mates over to the Headliner Pavilion, where he served up jugs of his very own Headliner Spritz, a watermelon-infused gin cocktail.
After spending some time at The Adelaide Oval, soaking up the victory, the Australians would head into town to continue the celebrations well on into the night.
On Monday, several members of the Australian Test squad cut bleary-eyed figures as they left the hotel to travel to Melbourne. Head, though, stayed in Adelaide and was seen heading to the famous Penfolds wine bar in Adelaide with his wife Jess and several others.

Speaking ahead of the Boxing Day Test this Thursday, McDonald reflected on the celebrations, adding that his team were hungry to keep winning Test matches.
‘There’s always concern for Travis [Head],’ the coach joked.
However, he added that after claiming the 3-0 lead, his side had every right to enjoy the celebrations.
‘Nah, they’ve earned that. They’re responsible adults and they know what they’ve got coming up.’
Head, meanwhile, has lifted the lid on what the celebrations were like.
‘Yep a good night, very much enjoyed,’ the Aussie batsman told Channel 9, as he was seen arriving at the Penfolds Bar in Adelaide on Monday.
‘I think the boys did well. There will be a few tired heads this morning on the flight.’
Head was one of several members of the Aussie team also wearing custom-made ‘Ronball’ shirts during Australia’s celebrations. The shirts depict a cartoon image of coach McDonald with his bat and pads on standing above the word ‘Ronball’. McDonald is affectionately nicknamed Ronald, after the fictional McDonald’s fast food chain character Ronald McDonald.

His partner Jess had later revealed the Travis (pictured) got home after 3:00am on Monday
‘They know there is a game at the MCG, World Test Championship points on the line. And that is something that drives this group,’ McDonald added.
‘It’s a huge motivator. And the ability to win more Test matches for Australia.
‘They always strike that balance and there’s no instructions from me around that. They’re all adults. They know how to get ready for a Test match. They’ll be ready to go come Boxing Day morning. I don’t think there will be any hangover. Yesterday there was a hangover. Maybe today – I’m not sure.’
Head and captain Pat Cummins had given a brief insight into their party, with the pair throwing a dig at Stuart Broad on Instagram, after the Englishman said this was the worst Aussie side in 10 years.
‘Is it 2010 yet?’ the South Australian batsman wrote on an Instagram post of himself and Cummins enjoying a few drinks.
On Monday, Head published a photo of himself and his wife, Jess, still celebrating with friends at the Penfolds wine bar in Adelaide.
Speaking to Fiveaa, Jess gave an insight into the celebrations.
‘We are actually at Penfolds at the moment, having lunch and celebrating a little bit more so he has come home… very early this morning,’ Jess told Fiveaa.

‘I want to say that it might have been after 3:00am.
‘But I won’t go into any further detail than that.’

‘I never used to get nervous,’ Jess said when asked what it was like watching her husband go in to bat. ‘But I think it was once the kids came and you know, Miller’s three now, and the last few years I’ve been getting a lot more nervous than I used to.
‘But It doesn’t get easier – it seems to be getting harder. I think that’s because of him being a dad and wanting to make them proud. It just makes everything a lot more meaningful. So it’s cool.’
‘Doing it at Adelaide Oval, at our home grounds, Alex was the best man at our wedding.
‘They’ve had a relationship all through the SACA. So it was really special.’
