Trump risks surprise appearance at $20m PGA Tour event… hours after Secret Service
Donald Trump appeared to make a lowkey entrance as he arrived for the Cadillac Championship 2026 in Miami on Sunday afternoon.
The PGA Tour returned to President Trump’s Miami golf course this week for the first time since 2016, as Doral’s Blue Monster plays host to the inaugural competition.
During the final round of the competition, which boasts a staggering $20m prize fund, Trump pulled into the ‘Trump Suite’, flanked by Vanessa and granddaughter Kai.
In a video that went viral on social media, Trump was seen waving to the thousands of patrons in attendance before eventually taking his seat in the stands.
The event marks the first time the PGA Tour has returned to Doral since the World Golf Championships event in 2016.
However, the field is missing five of the top 15 players, led by Masters champion Rory McIlroy. Also skipping the event are Xander Schauffele and Ludvig Aberg.

The President’s arrival, meanwhile, came just hours after a man was taken into custody by Secret Service agents at a security checkpoint on the course.
Footage, posted on social media on Saturday, showed the man being handcuffed and detained by officers at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami.
He was arrested after allegedly defying orders and ‘getting physical’ with a Secret Service agent, the New York Post reported.
It is claimed the man was later taken to a correctional center in Miami and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence.
‘At no point did this situation impact the established security posture for any upcoming visits to Trump National Doral Golf Club by Secret Service protectees,’ a Secret Service Miami spokesperson told The Post.
The incident comes a week after Cole Thomas Allen, 31, allegedly attempted to storm the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington.
Meanwhile, Trump’s course made headlines before the competition had even got underway after it underwent a major makeover ahead of the PGA Tour’s return.
It was revealed last week that a towering gold statue of the Commander-in-Chief had been erected on the grounds of the course.
The 15-feet-tall statue depicts the President throwing his fist into the air as he did in in the moments following the July 2024 assassination attempt on his life in Pennsylvania.

However, it almost didn’t make it to the course in time for this week’s PGA Tour signature event.
Sculptor Alan Cottrill, who works out of Zanesville, Ohio, was commissioned for the project in August 2024, the month following the assassination attempt on the president, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
$PATRIOT, a cryptocurrency group, commissioned the work to be done with Cottrill being paid paid $300,000 for the 15-foot bronze statue itself and another $60,000 for the gold leafing.
However, Cottrill reportedly held the statue hostage after he accused the crypto group of copyright infringement after it used the likeness of the artwork to sell crypto tokens.
After full payment was received, both parties reached an agreement with Cottrill releasing the statue last week when it finally made its way down to Doral.
